Hexidecimal color values allow for 256 colors using the base 16 numbering system from 00 to FF. The decimal value 0 in hexadecimal is 00. The decimal value 255 in hexidecimal is FF. By combining values or slightly altering values to create darker or lighter shades, you can create a rainbow of colors. - from Web Publishing Unleashed, Copyright 1996.
